“Because of the foreign language foundation at Rivermont, I was able to double major in Elementary Education and Spanish and am now pursuing a bilingual teaching certificate. Rivermont was also a great place to be involved – I cannot think of any other school environment where someone could be in student council, drama productions, cheerleading, and choir at the same time. These activities helped build great friendships and also taught me how to balance the many projects I encounter in my professional life.”

Jennifer Neff, Class of 2003

Rivermont’s Middle School is designed to meet the unique developmental needs of early adolescents during a period of significant academic, social, and emotional growth. Our close-knit community and strong advisory program provide the guidance and encouragement students need to become confident, responsible, and increasingly independent as they prepare for Upper School.

In small, engaging classes, students develop critical thinking, research, writing, and study skills through a rigorous curriculum that accommodates diverse learning styles and fosters curiosity, collaboration, and intellectual growth.

As students transition between classes and take greater ownership of their coursework, advisors and teachers help them develop effective study habits, set personal goals, manage their time, and become active members of the school community. Through athletics, visual and performing arts, clubs, leadership opportunities, school trips, competitions, and special events, Middle School students discover new interests, build lasting relationships, and gain the confidence and skills to succeed in and beyond the classroom.
