Human Resources Manager

Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for the full scope of the human resources function. This position performs all administrative and clerical functions related to human resources, employment, benefits, workers’ compensation, and other related duties. The HR Manager oversees job descriptions and recruiting, onboarding, employee compensation, payroll and benefits administration, employee relations, staff performance plans, compliance, and all HR policies and procedures.

Relationships

The HR Manager reports directly to the Headmaster.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees with questions and/or issues regarding payroll and benefits.
  • Work closely with the Headmaster throughout the contract and hiring process, creating job descriptions and postings, candidate screening, and conducting interviews.
  • Prepare and manage all new hire paperwork, including background checks, and maintain confidential employee files.
  • Track and manage all required forms, training and certifications for all faculty and staff (including, but not limited to, Blood Borne Pathogen, Mandatory Reporter, TB/Physical forms, First Aid/CPR, I-9’s, Fingerprints, etc.)
  • Work with the Finance Director and external brokers to analyze all data required for annual benefit renewals (health, dental, vision, FSA, cafeteria plan, retirement, Life/AD&D, and LTD insurances)
  • Manage HR programs, including processing changes to benefits plans and maintaining online employee benefit portals.
  • Ongoing administration of all health, welfare and retirement benefits available to employees, overseeing vacation, personal and sick time.
  • Administration and processing of bi-weekly payroll through the external payroll processing system, ensuring accuracy of compensation, tax information, benefits, and/or other deductions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Headmaster.

Chef's Assistant - Part-time, Evenings

Summary

The Chef’s Assistant is responsible for the planning, preparation, and service of evening meals for international boarding students as well as staff Dorm Parents five times a week. This is a part-time job with approximately 20-25 hours per week and two consecutive days off (to be determined at hire). The goals of this position are to provide healthy menu options with focus on quality, taste, and variety. The boarding student demographic is multi-cultural; the ideal candidate will have varied culinary skills and knowledge of ethnic, international, and intercontinental cuisines.

The Chef’s Assistant is an integral part of the residential community and boarding experience at Rivermont. A successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with an ability to build rapport with culturally diverse students and adults.

Relationships

The Chef’s Assistant reports directly to the Kitchen Manager/Chef. The Finance Director supervises and supports kitchen operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with the Kitchen Manager/Chef on menus as well as daily preparation and cleaning schedules.
  • Stocking and taking inventory as needed.
  • Maintaining standards of sanitation, safety, production, service, and food quality.
  • Managing/planning service for the evening dinner for approximately 20-30 boarding students and staff.
  • Prep work, cooking and cleaning
  • Maintaining compliance with all mandated health codes and applicable laws.

  • Assisting with occasional school special events.

Math and Technology Teacher

Job Summary

Rivermont Collegiate is seeking a full-time middle and upper school math and technology teacher. This faculty member will teach 4-5 courses as well as serving as a mentor to 5 upper school students. The ideal instructor will have a background in engineering and math, as well as ability to work with middle-school aged students as well as international students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach a middle school makerspace course along with an upper school makerspace course. (Makerspace courses involve the programming and use of 3D printers, resin printers, Glowforge laser engraver, robotics kits, and more).
  • Teach math classes that may include 7th grade pre-algebra, 9th grade geometry and/or precalculus.
  • Teach an engineering principles class to upper school students. (Past versions of this class have built bridges, boats, and trebuchets).
  • Help to promote STEAM opportunities within the school and in the greater quad city community.
  • Serve as a mentor to up to 5 upper school students, building relationships over time.
  • Contribute to extra-curricular offerings for our middle and upper school students.
  • Support our international boarding students by leading recreational activities twice each semester.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in math and/or engineering; master’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Secondary Teaching experience (preferred).
  • Strong written and orally communication skills.
