Math and Technology Teacher

Job Summary

Rivermont Collegiate is seeking a full-time middle and upper school math and technology teacher. This faculty member will teach 4-5 courses as well as serving as a mentor to 5 upper school students. The ideal instructor will have a background in engineering and math, as well as ability to work with middle-school aged students as well as international students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach a middle school makerspace course along with an upper school makerspace course. (Makerspace courses involve the programming and use of 3D printers, resin printers, Glowforge laser engraver, robotics kits, and more).
  • Teach math classes that may include 7th grade pre-algebra, 9th grade geometry and/or precalculus.
  • Teach an engineering principles class to upper school students. (Past versions of this class have built bridges, boats, and trebuchets).
  • Help to promote STEAM opportunities within the school and in the greater quad city community.
  • Serve as a mentor to up to 5 upper school students, building relationships over time.
  • Contribute to extra-curricular offerings for our middle and upper school students.
  • Support our international boarding students by leading recreational activities twice each semester.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in math and/or engineering; master’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Secondary Teaching experience (preferred).
  • Strong written and orally communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize technology for grading and pedagogical purposes.
  • Collaborative orientation.
  • Holds self and students to high standards.
