Scrip Gift Cards
Purchasing gift cards for your favorite retailers and restaurants through the Scrip Gift Card program is a fantastic way to support Rivermont Parents’ Council without spending any extra money. Did you know that when you purchase gift cards from racks at stores like Hy-Vee or Walgreens, the store is getting a percentage of the sale? Give that percentage to Rivermont Parents’ Council instead, where it can be used towards school trips and other items that benefit your student’s learning!
Scrip Gift Card Frequently Asked Questions
What Is the Scrip Gift Card Program?
The Scrip Gift Card Program, or Scrip for short, is a simple, cost-effective way to support our school. With just a little bit of planning, you can help Parents’ Council raise money without spending anything more than you normally do each month. Here’s how it works:
Scrip gift cards turn a portion of everyday shopping into cash when families like yours use retail gift cards to pay for daily purchases (like gas and groceries) instead of the usual credit or debit card. Scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift cards to Parents’ Council at a discounted rate. You simply buy the gift cards at full face value, redeem them on your purchases or give as gifts, and Parents’ Council keeps the difference. Think of it as a rebate that benefits your student!
The beauty of Scrip is that you put your regular shopping dollars to work. Scrip gift cards can be used for just about any household purchase including groceries, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out. Many popular retailers participate in the Scrip program, such as Hy-Vee, Target, Lands’ End, Kohl’s, iTunes, Chipotle, and Amazon.com,
How do I order Scrip Gift Cards?
There are two different ways to order gift cards through Scrip.
Printed Order Form: Download your order form from the website. Fill it out and submit it with your payment by the next ordering due date. Printed order forms can also be found in Becherer Hall and the Mansion. Order forms and checks can be turned in to Linda Paget in the Mansion lobby or dropped in the Scrip order box in Becherer Hall by Tammi Burrell’s desk.
Online Ordering: You can place your order and make a secure payment directly on the ShopWithScrip website. Depending on the retailer you select, you may have the option to request a new card be delivered to you via school, reload an existing gift card, or print a gift certificate from home which provides you with a code for online purchases.
Before you place your first order online, you will need to register. Simply click the “Register” button at the top of the page, then click “Join a Scrip Program,” and use Rivermont’s Enrollment Code: 1D293F966L16.
When can I place my order?
Orders are placed Mondays (at 3:00 pm) and delivered on the Friday of that week. The gift cards can go home with your child, or you can arrange to pick them up at school.

Do you have cards on hand? I need them quick!
Yes, we have a small stock of cards on hand for you to buy. These cards can be purchased during special events throughout the year or by contacting the parents’ council Scrip coordinators. You can also purchase cards any time the ‘Scrip on Sale’ sign is displayed on campus. Please bring cash or check to make a purchase.
Can I use a credit or debit card to pay for my Scrip gift cards?
All payments must be made using cash or check. If you order online, you also have the option to pay through PrestoPay, which will deduct your purchases from your bank account. Because Scrip gift cards can have a low-profit-margin, we are unable to accept credit or debit cards as payment since the fees charged to Parents’ Council would negate much of the profit.
Do you have gift cards for local retailers?
Yes! We love to support our local retailers and hope you will too. Some of our favorites include Whitey’s, Happy Joe’s, Hy-Vee, Center, Book World, and Kevin Walker Photography.
Do you have a special request from these local retailers? A $500 card from Hy-Vee? Twenty $5 cards from Happy Joe’s? A $65 from Book World? No problem. Contact the Scrip Chair by going to the Officers and Chairs page, or click here to email Parents’ Council.
How much does Parents' Council make from Scrip?
The percentage each retailer gives us varies, and can be found on the order form or when you order online. Here is an example of how it works:
This month Mrs. Smith decides to purchase Scrip gift cards to pay for gas, groceries, new clothes for her daughter, and a gift for an upcoming birthday party. By using gift cards purchased through the Scrip program instead of cash at these retailers, Mrs. Smith just earned $21.75 for Parents’ Council.

How successful has the program been?
During the last few years our profits from Scrip have been approximately $3,000 each year with about 10% of our families participating. Our goal is to increase participation by 5% and increase earnings to $4,500.
Ideas for using Scrip

Throwing a party? Pick up a Hy-Vee gift card before your next dinner party. And don’t forget about Thanksgiving!
Planning a vacation? Gas gift cards are a great way to help Parents’ Council while you travel. Simply pick up your card before you leave and enjoy your vacation.
Need gifts for employee appreciation? Consider keeping a few Scrip gift cards in your desk drawer for those times when a simple thank you isn’t enough.
Know a hungry college student? Restaurant gift cards are perfect for college students and many can be reloaded on the ShopWithScrip website.
Need favors for your child’s Birthday party? Consider $5 Whitey’s or Happy Joe’s gift cards instead of the same old goodie bag you did last year.
How can I help?
