On Thursday, February 1, Rivermont Collegiate officially rolled out Camp Rivermont, its all-new revitalized summer programming, and families began registering their kids immediately. Camp Rivermont encompasses all age and grade levels and is organized into three distinct categories:
Camp Rivermont – Early Childhood, ages 2 through 4, is organized around a weekly theme that drives daily games, learning experiences, and artistic creations. Themes include Jurassic Adventure, Outer Space, World Cup, Superheroes, and more.
Camp Rivermont, grades K through 5, offers the best aspects of outdoor summer camps – games, sports, art, and water activities- with time for indoor activities and learning experiences – science experiments, cooking and baking, board games, dance, and more. These camps are also organized around different weekly themes.
For preschool through 5th, each day begins with an opening ceremony to get the kids excited and concludes with a closing ceremony where campers share what they learned or created and are recognized and celebrated for their successes and good character traits.
For older students in grades 6-12, Rivermont Summer Academies focuses on cultivating a skill or interest. There is something for everyone, and students may sign up for a single academy or multiple academies within a day. It is important to note that the academies are structured so students taking more than one week of a session will continually expand and build upon their knowledge regardless of the weeks they select. So, each week is not a repeat of the previous. Summer Academies include running, volleyball, science, chess, band, cooking and baking, babysitter certification, tabletop gaming, and SAT/ACT prep. Each Summer Academy runs for 90 minutes or 3 hours, Monday through Friday.
“We believe there is an untapped market in the Quad Cities for high-quality, affordable summer programming. Camp Rivermont will be overseen by Rivermont teachers and supported by Rivermont alumni and older students,” says Collin Lawrence, Camp Rivermont Organizer and Assistant Head of School at Rivermont Collegiate. “This is a camp where students learn and have fun under the guidance of professionals looking after their well-being.”
