Rivermont Collegiate is a co-educational, independent school that offers an exclusively college preparatory program. Its eight and one half acre campus is located on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. Founded in 1884, the school is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS), the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS), the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement( NCA CASI), and the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB). CEEB # 161105.

Rivermont Collegiate is a SEVP certified school and its Residence Hall houses male and female international students.

Rivermont is accredited by the State of Iowa.

The Program

As a classic preparatory school, Rivermont Collegiate offers its students a firm foundation in academics, as well as exposure to the fine arts, participation in athletics, and service to the community:

All seniors complete the Senior Project, a 40-hour project (internship, career exploration, community service, etc.) and presentation in a field of interest. Juniors complete the Junior Service Project. Seniors are offered Educational Partner college classes at three local colleges/universities in both fall and spring terms.

Rivermont Collegiate offers a program of competitive athletics, life sports, clubs including Quad City Rowing, FTC Robotics, as well as Fine Arts and Performing Arts opportunities. Spanish instruction begins in PreSchool, French begins in the fourth grade, and Mandarin Chinese is offered in the Upper School. Other languages are offered via online instructional programs.

As a small, independent school, rank does not give an accurate measure of performance; therefore, we do not report rank.

Academic Honors

A student named to the Headmaster’s List has earned a minimum grade point average of 3.85.

A student who earns Distinction has obtained a minimum grade point average of 3.5

A Merit student has earned a minimum grade point average of 3.0.

 National Merit Scholars

Rivermont Collegiate has graduated 12 National Merit Scholars, seven Finalists, three Semi-Finalists, and 20 National Merit Commended students over thirty-seven graduating classes.
