College Acceptance Deadline Right Around the Corner

May 1, the student acceptance deadline for many colleges and universities, is now a little more than a month away. The next round of acceptances goes out March 30, and students will need to make hard decisions on which college or university they plan to attend. Many are the variables to consider, financial being only one but a large one.

Many colleges and universities have their own plans for giving grants rather than loans, depending on family income, and cut off levels are generally rising. Some are also presenting student loan caps.

Emory College’s recent email touches on college comparative shopping for students and parents and the  declaration of “chief competitors” may be a trend.

Consideration of Other Aid Approaches: For the first time this year, we (Emory) have identified a list of chief competitors, listed below, and students who have been admitted to any of these schools and received need-based aid can contact us to have their Emory financial aid reviewed. Admitted students and their parents will receive further information about this opportunity via email in early April.
