Rivermont Collegiate second grader Brandon Hu, of Davenport, met Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds earlier this month when he was honored as a recipient of the Governor's Award as part of Youth Art Month. Brandon's work will be on display in the Governor's offices through the month of March. Each year, art educators in the state of Iowa can submit 10 pieces of student work from their district to be included in the Youth Art Month exhibit at the State Historical Building in Des Moines, according to a press release. The exhibit features artwork from over 200 students from across Iowa. Artwork from six Rivermont students, including Brandon, was selected for exhibit. Brandon was the only QC student to receive the Governor's Award, according to the release.
