Meaningful Conversations

As parents, you want your children to succeed in their classes, get along with their peers, and learn the lessons necessary to be well equipped for college and life. That is likely why you have chosen to enroll them at Rivermont. As teachers, we want your children to succeed in their classes, get along with their peers, and learn the lessons necessary to be well equipped for college and life. This is why we teach at Rivermont. It is apparent that we are on the same side and have mutual objectives.

On Thursday and Friday of next week, parent-teacher conferences will take place at Rivermont. These conferences provide an opportunity for you to hear what progress has been made, see some of your student's work, and ask clarifying questions. As part of our ongoing assessment at Rivermont, we provide grades and narrative comments on the report cards, but there is something especially valuable about having a meaningful conversation around student effort and performance.

If you haven't done so already, please sign up for conferences using Sign-up Genius. If you have questions about how to sign up, please ask Miss Burrell (burrell@rvmt.org), and she will be happy to provide assistance. In rare cases when a teacher has no remaining available time slots, you can ask to set up a conference directly with that teacher for another time.

As a Rivermont parent, I look forward to the opportunity to hear directly from my children's teachers. I leave the conference informed and enlightened about where my children are on their educational journey. As a Rivermont teacher, I look forward to visiting with parents about my approach in the classroom and expectations for each student. I conclude the conference with a better understanding about how to partner with the family to move toward shared goals. It has always been a positive experience, and I hope the same for your family.
