Hello Rivermont Families!
As we approach February, the school really shifts into high gear. February is always one of our busiest months, so I thought it would be helpful this week to highlight several of the big upcoming events.
Our Summer School catalog will be released early next week on our website. We have greatly expanded our programs again this year in partnerships with River Music Experience, and many universities and colleges in the region. Classes fill up quickly, so please register early!
The next Evening with the Headmaster on February 3rd in the Becherer Hall auditorium from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. We will be discussing a variety of topics including our College Admissions Study, Iowa Assessment Results, the Educational Partners programs, the 2015-16 school calendar, amongst other topics, and upcoming school initiatives. We will be sending out a LiveStream link on Monday if you are unable to attend the event in person, but would like to view it on the web.
The Quad Cities Battle of the Bridges Competition is February 6th at the Putnam Museum. A number of our Middle and Upper School students will be competing in this team event from 11:30 am to 5:15 pm. Their task is to structurally design and build a bridge that can support an increasing amount of weight. It is a fun and exciting competition, so if you have a moment to stop by the Putnam, it is well worth the visit.
The Junior Class Project presentations are on February 10th from 1:00 - 2:00 pm in the Becherer Hall auditorium. The class has been working very hard on their projects throughout the year in demonstrating their commitment to the community.
One of the highlights of the school year is Rivermont's Academic Fair held on February 12th starting at 6:00pm. This is an incredible night filled with student presentations, projects, and living biographies. If you have not attended an Academic Fair in the past, this is an absolute must event for the entire family!
Rivermont's annual Ski-Bowl Day is February 13th. Parent information packets and student permission forms will be sent home via e-mail later this week. 4th -12 graders will be hitting the slopes either skiing, snowboarding or tubing while our Junior-Kindergarten through 3rd graders will be bowling and participating in a number of exciting and fun activities throughout the day.
On a final note, mark your calendars now for the Rivermont Family Trivia night on February 20th. Proceeds from the event will benefit the children of Amalia Rodgers, who we lost in December. It's going to be a fun and exciting event with doors opening at 6:30 pm.
As you can see, we are hopping in February. Thank you to all our faculty, staff and especially parents for your continual support of our students and school.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend. Please stay warm and safe.
