College 101

Hello Rivermont Families!

I would like to begin this week with a thank you to the entire Rivermont family for your tremendous outpouring of support during last Friday's Trivia Night. A special thank you to Curtis and Dana Fee, Rebecca Ashby, Ashley Stelly and all those who planned or worked the event.

While we have introduced a number of new programs and initiatives across Rivermont this year, I would like to highlight a new seminar series that begins with the start of the fourth quarter. Our new College 101 course for our graduating seniors kicks off following our spring break. An eight week seminar course, College 101 is designed to prepare our seniors for life as a college freshman. Using an array of guest speakers from universities across the region, our College 101 course delves into a myriad of topics from campus safety, personal finances, current college social climate and hot issues, study skills and how to transition from home to the dorm. We are very excited about this program as we work alongside our wonderful parents in preparing our students for collegial success. Senior parents will be receiving a course syllabus next week outlining specific topics, program schedule and guest speaker lists.

It's finally here! Rivermont's International Week festival starts this Monday. With a number of activities occurring across the school each day, students will experience a wide range of world cultures, history, and cuisine. This is a wonderful week that emphasizes our school's philosophy of preparing our students for the global world around them. The week culminates on March 6th with a Parents' Council's led celebration of culture, food, and music.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend. Please stay warm and safe.
