It was great to see so many parents and students Tuesday night cheering on our Middle and Upper School Volleyball teams. The night was made even more memorable with the addition of our new Pep Band which was definitely rocking the house. Thanks to Coaches Kalie Donovan and Sarah McCoy, along with our Instrumental Music Director extraordinaire Jessica Freemeyer.

Enhancing our already energetic school spirit is an item of focus for us this year. With all the diverse activities, clubs, and events our students are involved with throughout the academic year, it can sometimes be a challenge to pull together the entire school in support of a singular Rivermont event. Pack the Gym Night on Tuesday was a great start! Look out for other opportunities throughout the year.

I would also like to take a moment to discuss a new initiative for Middle and Upper School parents this year with the creation of Class Advisors. Responding to parent recommendations, we have assigned one faculty member specifically to each Middle and Upper School grade. Serving as link between parents, students and the school, Class Advisors oversee student activities within their assigned grade while providing a conduit for parents on school policies and programs. Class Advisors will assist students with planning and organizing class activities and trips, serve as chaperones, and provide assistance to parent volunteers. If you have a great idea for a class or school activity, your Class Advisor is ready to help.

Our faculty Class Advisors are:

  • Class of 2015: Gwen Livingstone Pokora
  • Class of 2016: Kristin Skaggs
  • Class of 2017: Ha Dao Brown
  • Class of 2018: Edward Knupp
  • Class of 2019: Alexandre Gomez
  • Class of 2020: Kelly Turner
  • Class of 2021: Adrianna Vargas

As a last note, there have been a couple of questions raised regarding the Founder's Day Fun Run and the Imp/Tiger competition this Friday. While these events occur on the same day, they really are two separate activities. The entire day is a Rivermont celebration, so please stop on by one of the many events.

In terms of student dress on Friday, I would recommend athletic attire (shorts, sweats, sneakers, etc.) and of course their Imp or Tiger shirt. If unavailable, an orange or green shirt based on their selected house would be sufficient. For Early School students who have yet to be sorted into a school house, a red (Pre-school) or a white (Junior Kindergarten) T-shirt and comfortable clothes are recommended.

I have included a list of Friday's activities below.

Founder's Day Fun Run
10:45 - 11:15 am: Early School Fun Run at the School Soccer Field
12:45 - 1:45 pm:   Lower School Fun Run at the Mississippi Bend AEA
(729 21st. Street, Bettendorf)
2:00 - 3:00 pm: Middle/Upper School at the Mississippi Bend AEA

Imp/Tiger Competition
1:00 - 1:45 pm: Middle and Upper School, Rivermont Soccer Field
2:00 - 3:10 pm: Lower School, Rivermont Soccer Field
3:10 - 3:25 pm: All School Tug-of-War, Rivermont Soccer Field

Have a wonderful and safe weekend.
