I would like to take a moment to give a huge shout out to the Parents' Council this week. Those reading Paw Postings over the last two years, know how much I and the school are so grateful to Parents' Council for their tireless enthusiasm in helping to make Rivermont a fun and enjoyable experience for all our families. If you have not been on our website lately, check out the Parents' Council section. There is a tremendous amount of information, announcements, and as of this week, a new online Scrip gift card section! Also if you have not stopped by Monty's closet recently, wait until you see the new items being added. If you are searching for an early holiday gift, we have got the store for you. Thank you again to all the officers and members of the Parents' Council. You make a huge difference each and every day.

As we are on the subject of the website, don't forget there is an electronic copy of the Student-Parent Handbook, the school calendars, and a library of forms and materials for your use in the My Rivermont section

I have a few additional housekeeping items to briefly highlight:

  • Report cards will be released electronically through Blackbaud on Monday, October 20th. We make every effort to finalize grades and teacher comments within a week of the end of each quarter or semester. The quarter officially ended last Friday. For those parents new to Rivermont, I will be sending out an e-mail on Monday morning signaling that the report cards are live. Included in this e-mail will be a short, 6-step reference guide for accessing the report cards.
  • The Scholastic Book Fair is coming next week! Becherer Hall will be transformed this weekend into an exciting book fair.
  • Next Monday, October 20th, join us for the PINK OUT Varsity Volleyball Game. That is also Parents Night when we recognize the supportive parents of our athletes.
  • The Student Hunger Drive Talent Show is next Wednesday, October 22 from 6:00-7:15pm. This is a wonderful, student-lead production for a great cause. Admission is $5 or 10 cans of food for the Hunger Drive.
  • October 23-24th: Parent Teacher Conferences. The Sign-up binder is located in Becherer Hall.
  • October 31st: Fall Festival with an afternoon assembly, story and costume parade.

I also wanted to take a moment to highlight a series of events that happen throughout the year at Rivermont that might not be as widely known. In partnership with various Quad City Arts programs, Rivermont hosts a number of very talented visiting artists throughout the school year. Generally there are three to four shows presented each year to the student body. Our next show is Tuesday, October 21st, when "Break from Reality" an incredibly fun and accomplished cello group will perform. If you have a free moment or can take a late lunch break from 1:00-1:50pm, please stop by. We will also be LiveStreaming this event, so you can watch it from any device with access to the internet. We will be sending out the LiveStream link on Monday evening.

As always thank you for your wonderful support,

Todd Zachary
Headmaster
