As we rapidly approach the end of the first quarter this Friday, I think we are all marveling at how fast the year is progressing. I would like to take a moment to catch our collective breath and thank the entire Rivermont family for your support this year. While this quarter has certainly flown by, we have taken some big steps together in implementing a variety of initiatives that we set in motion last year.

The Upper School's Education Partnership program where our seniors are taking a variety of college courses at Augustana, St. Ambrose, and Western Illinois University is progressing wonderfully. We are in the process of coordinating the senior's internship program and putting the final touches on our new College 101 course. The new college-based setup of Upper School's academic schedule is working well with the faculty and students, enabling extended periods for science labs and mathematics.

The Middle School is off to a great start with the addition of new "Out of Box" electives, a new Science lab and a dedicated computer lab. While the Early and Lower School are continuing to expand their curriculum and are exploring new worlds with the addition of iPads in the classroom.

As we continue our journey together this school year, there are a couple of key items coming up over the next several weeks:

  • October 20th: Parents Night and PINK Out Volleyball Game
  • October 22rd: Mark your calendar for the second annual Student Hunger Drive Talent Show. Details are being finalized by the Student Hunger Drive Committee and should be out in the next few days. This is a wonderful student lead production for a great cause.
  • October 23-24th: Parent Teacher Conferences. Sign-up rosters located in Becherer Hall.
  • October 31st: Fall Festival with an afternoon assembly and costume parade. More details on this event will be sent out next week.

Please make sure to check out the new Rivermont Collegiate Letterman Jacket ad on the school website. A great new option from Monty's Closet! click here (First set of orders due tomorrow, 10/15)

Wishing everyone a safe and happy weekend.
