Earlier this week, my wife Sheri and I brought our daughter Kate to Emerson College, in the heart of Boston, where she will start her college classes next week. As those who have dropped off children to college know, this can be a trying time for both parents and students. Well, I guess I will have to accept the fact that she is now a Red Sox fan.
As I was in the audience talking to other parents and listening to the presentation on Emerson's Parents' Network, I reflected upon the tremendous efforts our own Parents' Council make each day in welcoming our parents into the Rivermont Community.
If you have not checked out the Parents' Council page on our website yet, take a few moments this weekend to take a peek. There are so many ways to become involved with Rivermont whether it's volunteering to chaperone, manning Monty's Closet or helping out in the various book sales and fund-raising events throughout the year. The tremendous efforts of our Parents' Council is instrumental to the success of our student activities and the entire school at large. If you have not yet had the opportunity to volunteer for an event, they really are a lot of fun. I promise volunteering will make you smile, laugh, and energize you for the rest of the week.
The next big event coming up is the Imp/Tiger Founder's Day Run on September 19th.
On behalf of the Rivermont faculty, staff, trustees and the entire community, I would like to thank all of the Parents' Council Officers, Committee Chairs and everyone involved who graciously give so much of their time and energy to our school.
As a friendly reminder, don't forget about the permission forms for the Middle School Milwaukee trip. They need to be in no later than August 29th (This Friday)....anchors away!
I wish you all a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend!
